BEST PERIOD FOR NORTHERN LIGHTS IN ICELAND

The best period of the Northern Lights begins in September and ends with the end of March. But look, we’re saying it again. Even during your period there is no such thing as 100% seeing if you go. This depends entirely on solar activity and whether the weather is cloudy.

First you click on this link. A map will appear on the drop-down page. On the right side of the map, sunset, sunrise, such as writes hours.

First we found out what hours the weather was dark.

The next step should be to understand from the map. The green areas you see on the map of Iceland indicate that the rate is cloudy. White parts mean cloudless.

So we can only see the Northern Lights in places that are white.

Immediately to the right of the map is the Aurora forecast section of tarainfa. Under it was ranked from 0 to 9. This should be at least 4 so that the northern lights can look good in white places. If it’s below 4, you can see Northern Light from very, very dark places, which means the Northern Lights are very weak. But it’s worth 4 and means you can see very comfortably even from a lighted city centre if the weather is cloudless.

Although there are no guarantees, the period when you can see the Northern Lights is very likely between September and March. If solar activity is active, Northern Lights appear all over Iceland.

PHOTOGRAPHING THE NORTHERN LIGHTS

You must have a DSLR and a tripod to photograph the Northern Lights. It must be that your machine stays stable. One of the things that is mandatory outside of the Tripod is the remote control. When you press the equalizer to take pictures, the machine will play. To prevent this, we strongly recommend that you buy a remote control sold for £ 20. The lowest shutter (f2.8) you just need to get to the highest ISO value.

Carry with you the necessary equipment for the machines not to take water in case the weather is rainy.
